Here is what Amazon.com had to say about Safe Haven:

When a mysterious young woman named Katie appears in the small North Carolina town of Southport, her sudden arrival raises questions about her past. Beautiful yet self-effacing, Katie seems determined to avoid forming personal ties until a series of events draws her into two reluctant relationships: one with Alex, a widowed store owner with a kind heart and two young children; and another with her plainspoken single neighbor, Jo. Despite her reservations, Katie slowly begins to let down her guard, putting down roots in the close-knit community and becoming increasingly attached to Alex and his family.

But even as Katie begins to fall in love, she struggles with the dark secret that still haunts and terrifies her . . . a past that set her on a fearful, shattering journey across the country, to the sheltered oasis of Southport. With Jo’s empathic and stubborn support, Katie eventually realizes that she must choose between a life of transient safety and one of riskier rewards . . . and that in the darkest hour, love is the only true safe haven.

  6. Don’t forget that all three comment options are DAILY options, meaning you can get one entry for each blog daily! Today’s question is: Katie and Alex fall in love very quickly. What draws them together? Have you ever fallen in love so quickly? If not, do you think it’s possible?

    • I do think it is very possible to have strong feelings for someone very quickly. That doesn’t necessarily mean it will work out in the end… sometimes things that burn hot burn out if you catch my drift. But it’s a believable story element to me, and it made for a good movie plot, too.

    • I think that you can be strongly drawn to someone very quickly, but I am not sure about the love part. It honestly felt like the kids drew them together, that an persistance and patience. I am a Gemini and true to the part I don’t fall in love quickly but when I was younger I would say what they needed to hear …. even when it wasn’t the truth.

  9. Hello and thank you for the great giveaway. I enjoy reading your blog :)

I am going to also answer your question posted on July 8th.
I never believed in crazy love stories and always thought they were some romantic notion. I had been divorced bout 2 years when all that changed! Was not looking for anyone and I met my husband who turned my world upside down. I never knew it was possible to fall in love with someone on the very first date! We were married 6 months later and have been married for 11 years now.

  10. Today’s discussion question is: Why do you think the author chose to write a portion of the book from Kevin’s perspective. Do you have any sympathy for Kevin? Why or why not?
